Well, Milan is over and Paris couture is been and done and what a whirlwind it has been watching all that fabric and colours for what we should be wearing at the end of the year. Personally, we think Mcqueen nailed it with the lace head covering dresses oh so wearable and well with a pair of sunglasses you could lie and say you are going for the invisible man/woman look…..

So back in Italy and the crazy pace of Milan, what with the chain smoking, espresso,grappa and the elegance of the Italians themselves, this years men’s and women’s shows at Milan were hailed as some of the strongest with fashion favourites Prada both men’s and women’s collections the fovourites of the whole week for many an editor…..

So if you are a Muccia Prada what do you do if you are short of a few male models for your menswear show?….Well, you fly in a truckload of Hollywood’s leading men and parade them up and down in a baroque inspired velvet laden heavily embellished menswear collection of course. Talk about lucky front pages for featuring not only the clothes but also the men. That is what I call marketing!.

Well, Muccia herself is the driving force behind the Prada label. As its creative director she not only fuels a passion for design but inspires so many in fashion. Prada has gone from strength to strength and has acquired shares in many companies along the way that were a thorn in their side. Muccia often is regarded not only as a designer but a despot in business. She is noted for keeping Prada at the head of its game by not only design but by taking control of rival companies. Most recently the company acquired the Jil Sander label and it placed Raf Simmons as its chief designer, noted for controversy and simplicity. This was a key move and he has put the house back on the map. Simmons is rumoured to be the successor to the throne of Dior due to his success eith the Sander house. Prada this year is rocking back to the 1950’s with its high octane of pimped up autos and petrol collection. We all hope you are well and take the time to read these little blogs of ours!…..Well, the rain is set in today and the temperatures have dropped to “brass monkey” levels, and what is the fashion world predicting to be a big hit for Spring / Summer 2012?????…..Bloody ice cream pastels!!!!
The likes of Paul Smith, Prada and many more all putting their own little spin on things…..trousers,shirts,dresses,and skirts…..and even sunglasses!!!!……all in nude or pastels.
2012 may not end like the Mayan calender has predicted but at leasr we can go out in a riot of glorious colour. Mine’s a 99 with a flake and raspberry sauce while your’e asking…!

You associate both John Lennon and Ozzy Osbourne with round sunglasses , and this retro style is now en vogue big time!!!!

Round shapes are popular in retro style……Think Wallis Simpson and Edward Windsor, with a splash of Downton abbey….Oliver Peoples and Paul Smith’s new sunglass styles pay hommage to this era,60’s styles……..think Ray-Ban, and cutting edge shades…..think Stella McCartney.

Well 2012 is looking it’s just one big excuse for a good old knees up. we have the Olympics, the Queen’s diamond Jubilee and of course an extra bank holiday to go with that (God bless you queenie!). So with all these shindigs and soirees we will all be having to celebrate and of course the scorching weather we are going to have, it cant be as wet as last year surely…..

We also have all the major shows on their way with what’s going to be hot for the coming couple of years….Look out for news of Dior’s new in-house superstar (some people are going to think they have lost their minds if the rumours are true). We have a continuing royal theme with various films and exhibitions celebrating the Monarchy in its many different faces….Pippa or Kate that’s the question we think they are both Beauts and think come when the sun shines they will not be seen without a HUGE pair of shades to hide from the papparazzi.

No Glastonbury this year but there will be partying in the parks all up and down the country with the usual suspects of Reading,Leeds,V festival. London gets its own festival as well with details still to be confirmed but with it being London it can only be a good one.So with festivals …what to wear??!!…Well with the lack of sleep you know you need some bloody cool shades and if not a good hat. Sunglasses are the most versatile way to change your look so why stop at one pair…invest in two or three , or infact get them all!!

Keep smiling and remember lets party like its the end of the world(god bless the Mayans, but we Brits have never needed an excuse for a party!). maybe an excuse for another pair of sunglasses i’ll meet you at the check out with my four favourites
